Let's Be Social This Thanksgiving

Before you post that Happy Thanksgiving message to your thousands of followers, think about what you're saying:

Don't write as if you're addressing a group of nameless faces; write as if you're talking to your friends.

Many marketers who honed their craft in the heyday of traditional marketing continue to think that their efforts are one-way — you create a message, push it to the masses, and you're done.

We need to always remember though, social media isn't one-directional — communication flows in both directions. If you're pushing a promotion, write it in a way that gets people engaged to respond. If you're sending a holiday message, don't make it generic — try to connect with people on a more meaningful level.

Your fan following is simply a massive Thanksgiving dinner table and everyone's talking.

Give them something great to talk about.
